SAND
SLITTING
Sand slitting enables the surface water to perculate
much faster into the primary drainage system.
Sand
slitting can be carried out on all grass surfaces, e.g.
golf courses, football, rugby, pitches, race courses,
etc…
The
sand slits are typically 50mm wide and 250-300mm deep
and are installed at 1 or 2 metre spacings.
The
sandslits are backfilled to within 150-200mm of the
surface using a clean granular backfill and then topped
off with a medium to coarse sand.
In
order to put the sand slits in we use the tractor mounted
Shelton wheel trencher and Shelton backfill hoppers.
The specialist equipment means that the slits are dug
with very little disruption to the existing turf . |
